I think that you are betwwen the nexus site, NMM, and the actual game. Although to be true, I do have desktop icons for Oblivion and another for Skyrim.

Or your mods that you select fail to download, install? If that is not the case then ignore everything that follows and instead tell us exactly what you are doing.

If that is what is happening then it is not a problem with Skyrim. The Nexus site may be having problems, or they may just be overloaded with people trying to download stuff. First you should check that you are using the most recent version of NMM 0. If that is OK then you can either wait awhile before trying again, or you can use the "download manually" link right beside the green button in the Files section of the mod's page.

If your web browse also fails to download the mod then you will need to wait until Nexus fixes the problem or is less busy. If the web browser completes the download - start up NMM, select the Mods tab, click on the blue puzzle piece on the left side the icon at the top of the column of icons , navigate to the file that was just downloaded and select it, then click on the Open button. NMM will then start working just like it would if it had downloaded the mod. Last edited by Factualious ; 16 Nov, pm.

Ok, I checked the little box at the bottom of the game selection dialog a long time ago, so I don't even see it anymore - I start up NMM and it goes right to the main window with Skyrim already selected. Your browser will hand off to the Nexus Mod Manager application, which will download the mod you chose. However, some mods offer multiple versions, or additional files.

You can click the red cancel button that appears in this location afterwards to disable a mod. Some mods will walk you through a setup process the first time you enable them.

Go through the setup process and select your desired options to enable the mod. Now all you need to do is launch Fallout 4. Load your existing game or create a new one—either way, the mods you installed will immediately take effect. To disable or uninstall a mod later, close Fallout 4 and open Nexus Mod Manager.

However, if you plan to install several mods, you may need to think about your mod load order. This is exactly what it sounds like.

Fallout 4 will load mods one by one, in the order you specify. Second, you may have a small mod that makes a single weapon function in a certain way. If the game loads the small mod before the larger mod, its tweaks will be overwritten by the total overhaul mod. To have the second mod function, the larger total overhaul mod needs to be loaded first.

This only applies to mods that have plugins. It must appear after all these other plugins in the list. It may take some trial and error to get the load order working the way you want it.

It works by examining your mods and attempting to decide the correct order so that all dependencies are satisfied and that each mod has a maximum impact on your game.

It will recommend you a load order you can configure in Nexus Mod Manager. Skyrim and Fallout 4 share the same engine, and work similarly. Texture packs are a great example of this. For example, the Skyrim HD mod adds over 2, high-res textures to the game, making it look absolutely fantastic.

But there are also smaller mods for specific textures—like this Real Ice and Snow mod—that sometimes look even better. First, you select the Skyrim HD mod and enable it, just like you would any other mod. You could load these mods in the opposite order, too.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a fantastic game right out of the box, but the reason so many people still play it so many years after its initial release is the massive modding community. Skyrim mods can do almost anything, from drastically improving the graphics, to creating new quests and non-player characters NPCs , to something as simple as making the maps more attractive.

Modding Skyrim and Skyrim: Special Edition isn't too difficult, but it can be a somewhat confusing process. Since there are two different versions of the game, and Skyrim is available on so many platforms, there are multiple different ways to find and install Skyrim mods.

There are two versions of Skyrim , and the game is also available on a number of different platforms. The version of the game, and the platform you are using, will affect the process you need to go through if you want to mod your game. Here are the main sources of mods for Skyrim and the platforms that you can use with them:. Here are the three main sources of mods for Skyrim: Special Edition and the platforms that you can use with them:.

Skyrim: Special Edition is a version of Skyrim that is available for PC and consoles, and it is designed to make the modding process very easy. In fact, Bethesda actually hosts a huge variety of mods on their own site, and you don't need to download any additional software to use them. The first part of this process is to create an account on Bethesda. Here are the steps that you need to take:. Once you have found some Skyrim: Special Edition mods that you want to install, the rest of the process takes place in the game.

You will need to tie your accounts together, choose some of the mods you found, and install them. Enter the email address you used when you created your Bethesda. You need to select Create Account even though you already have an account.

As long as you enter the same email you used to set up your Bethesda. Enter your Bethesda. Some mods do not work well with other mods. If your game does not operate normally, try adjusting the load order by selecting Load Order from the main mods screen. If that doesn't work, you may need to disable one or more mods by clicking on the mod and then clicking on Disable.

Depending on your platform, there may be limits on how many mods you can download and install. The number of mods you can install will also be lower if you don't have enough free space on your console. The space limitations are placed by Microsoft and Sony, while the limit on the number of mods you can install can be placed by either the console manufacturer or Bethesda.
